Mayim Bialik Shocks Fans With Sudden Departure From ‘Jeopardy’ Hosting Duties

The Big Bang Theory’ star announced on her social media yesterday dropping a bombshell on her fans that she’s “no longer hosting” the mega-hit game show Jeopardy

The Announcement

Actress Mayim Balik’s time as a host on Jeopardy has come to an end as Balik bid her goodbye to the game with a post on social media she posted on December 15. She revealed in the post that “Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!” which came as a big surprise to her fans.

The Big Bang Theory alum has been co-hosting this show with Ken Jennings and in her announcement post expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the team Jeopardy, saying “For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America’s Favorite Quiz Show, thank you.” She continued feeling grateful for what this show meant for her and how it allowed her to be nominated for an Emmy as well, “I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family,” she penned.


Fans Reaction

Mayim Bialik’s fans took to social media to react to the news, which the actress shared on her page with her millions of followers. Fans were in shock and not at all happy and were wondering if was it the contract, Sony’s decision, or Mayim’s decision. One tweeted, “So it wasn’t Mayim’s decision? That’s… interesting. gonna read more about this,” while another one comments on her amazing performance saying, “Mayim Bialik is a gem—compassionate, talented, and smart as can be. Sony was lucky to have had her host Jeopardy—a performance for which she received an Emmy nomination. I, for one, cannot wait to see what she does next.”

Mayim’s Contract With Jeopardy

Bialik first joined Jeopardy as a temporary host when the legendary host, Alex Trebek, died in 2020. In 2021, it was announced that she would co-host the show with Ken. Bialik is a big-time fan of Jeopardy and has made many comments saying, “I like to say I’ve lived season-to-season since I was about 13 years old,” and has even expressed her desire to be the permanent host on the hit game show “I would love that.”

She made these comments in an interview with ET in March 2022, who knew that She and Ken would be signing as permanent hosts a few months later based on availability.

Although post-Alex Trebek’s death, many hosts stepped in as temporary hosts for Jeopardy, including NFL star Aaron Rodgers, journalist Katie Couric, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, talk show host Dr. Mehmet Oz, and many more. Now, that Bialik’s out, let’s see who will come in till then fans are all set to hear her podcast named Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown, a series about mental health.
